Howdy, Digital People !
Here’s your Digital Tomorrow
Nowadays, most of our time in a day we spend on online activity, might be on social networking sites, news website, e-Commerce etc. Most of us never think & question , how safe are our account credentials. We have become so busy & careless that we never think of our data security, as a result of this, there have been many instances where the customer’s data has been hacked & misused by the hackers.
I hope everyone remembers the LinkedIn 2012 hack saga, where millions of user’s credentials were hacked & then LinkedIn asked everybody to change the password. This issue hasn’t closed yet and now a hacker by the name “Peace” is trying to sell the emails and passwords of 117 million LinkedIn members on a dark web (illegal marketplace) for around $2,200 in Russia, payable in bitcoin. This data set also originates from the 2012 hack; these account’s passwords are encrypted in the same way – with “no salt” – meaning they are more easily cracked.
What this means to users?
This is a obvious question which rises to everyone & depends upon these factors – Did you had an account in LinkedIn during 2012?Have you changed your password since then?
If you had account at that time & haven’t changed your password, then change it immediately. Also if you are using the same password for your banking, email, social networking sites and for any other sites then change for those too.
